FM Show 2018

Energy Use, Legislation, Maintenance, Sustainability

Thanks for everyone who attended the show and came to visit us on our stand.

It was becoming obvious that MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) is still a subject that many need help on, both on the understanding and the solutions. If you are unsure please contact us at Manchester@temperaturecontrol.co.uk and we can help you.

What is MEES

MEES has been introduced as legislation to improve the energy efficiency across the commercial sector. Starting off as a minimum EPC banding of E or above, the aim is to increase this to Band C by 2030.

Approximately 50% of all energy use in buildings is from HVAC systems and we have many options to reduce this energy and make a major impact on overall energy use.

It is estimated that 18% of all commercial buildings have an EPC below Band E, which falls below the MEES standards and since 1 April 2018, fines can be levied on building owners and landlords on buildings that do not satisfy MEES standards.

The Solution

Our message is simple. If you have an EPC rating of F or G and you own a commercial property for rent, you need to make changes to improve your energy efficiency.  As heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) accounts for 50% of energy use in commercial buildings we have the capability to improve your energy efficiency and achieve higher EPC ratings. This could be as simple as replacing older equipment with more energy efficient type or more advanced with a total redesign of your systems. Partnering with leading manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Electric we are able to look at all aspects of building services to improve energy use in the built environment.
